The opening lineup runs from tempura maitake mushrooms to bulgogi and kimchi pizza with tableside-torched mozzarella, plus bossam-style grilled branzino for the full fire test.

Pacific Palisades has a new neighborhood grill in the rotation. Named for the community's Alphabet Streets, Alphabet Bar and Grill pairs chef Timothy Hollingsworth's California-minded American comfort food with classic cocktails and daily hours from 11 AM to 10 PM.

Los Angeles organizers Amanda and André are bringing live music, DJs, Colombian and Latino vendors, and raffles to Hello Stranger in Little Tokyo on Sunday, September 13, from 1 to 6 PM.

Hulu’s Chad Powers rolls a free catfish food-truck activation into Venice on Friday, September 4.

UCLA is handing its athletic department to one of its own. Chancellor Julio Frenk announced that Tim Harris, a Bruin All-America goalkeeper who spent more than 35 years with the Lakers and most recently served as president of business operations, will serve as CEO and Director of Athletics on a pro-bono basis, succeeding Martin Jarmond as the program confronts a significant financial deficit.
