⚖️ TERMS OF SERVICE

Plain-English Terms

Last updated: May 15, 2026

We're curators, not lawyers. Here's how this works.

THE DEAL

CurationsLA is a community-driven platform celebrating Los Angeles culture — eats, events, neighborhoods, the people who make this city. By using this site, the newsletter, or any related surface (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, that's cool — but you can't use the Services.

We can update these Terms. We'll change the date at the top and, for material changes, send a heads-up via VIBES to subscribers. Continuing to use the Services after updates means you accept them.

WHO CAN USE IT

You need to be at least 13 years old. If you're under 18, you need a parent/guardian's OK. We don't knowingly collect data from kids under 13 — if we find we have, we delete it.

You're responsible for what you post or publish. Keep it legal, keep it good vibes.

YOUR CONTENT

If you publish a plan via Garrett's Mom, submit a venue, post in a neighborhood chat, or send anything else to the platform (your “Content”), you grant CurationsLA a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it within the Services, including the VIBES newsletter, social channels, and the CurationsLA Events Platform.

You keep ownership. We don't sell your Content. We don't train third-party models on your Content without telling you. If we ever want to feature your Content beyond the Services (a partner brand campaign, a book, a film), we'll ask first.

You promise the Content is yours (or you have rights to it) and doesn't infringe anyone else's rights, defame anyone, or break the law.

OUR CONTENT

All editorial content created by CurationsLA — VIBES newsletter issues, venue blurbs, neighborhood guides, curator notes — is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC-BY-4.0). You can share, adapt, and remix — just credit CurationsLA and link back.

Photos, logos, and third-party content (where credited) keep their original licenses. The CurationsLA name, the “Good Vibes Only” tagline, and our visual identity (Hot Pink / Lime / Purple brutalism) are trademarks of CurationsLA — please don't use them to imply endorsement.

AI-ASSISTED CONTENT

Some surfaces use AI to draft, summarize, or recommend — specifically Garrett's Mom (powered by Microsoft Azure AI Foundry), our SEO/discovery layer, and parts of the newsletter pipeline. Every public surface that uses AI is labeled or otherwise discoverable in our /llms.txt policy and agents.json file.

AI output can be wrong. Always sanity-check before relying on it for big decisions. Plans Garrett's Mom suggests are suggestions — not bookings, reservations, or guarantees.

WHAT YOU CAN'T DO
  • Spam, harass, hate-speech, or threaten anyone
  • Post illegal content, infringe IP, or share private info that isn't yours
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape at industrial scale, or attempt to break the Services
  • Impersonate CurationsLA, a venue, or another user
  • Use the Services to send unsolicited commercial messages
  • Bypass rate limits, paywalls, or admin gates

We can suspend or remove accounts and content at our discretion if you violate any of the above. We'll try to give you a heads-up unless safety/legal requires otherwise.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The Services rely on third parties — Cloudflare, Vercel, Supabase, Resend, Ghost CMS, MapBox, Microsoft Azure (for AI), and Stripe (for paid features). Their terms apply to their slices of the experience. We pick partners we trust, but we don't control them.

NO WARRANTIES, LIMITED LIABILITY

The Services are provided “as is.” We work hard to keep things up and accurate, but we don't guarantee uptime, completeness, or that venues featured will still exist tomorrow (LA is LA). Use your own judgment before showing up anywhere we recommend.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, CurationsLA and its affiliates aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages from your use of the Services. Our total liability won't exceed $100 USD or what you've paid us in the last 12 months — whichever is greater.

GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be filed in the state or federal courts in Los Angeles County, California.
