A stray shower may still pass through Tuesday, while any isolated thunderstorm threat should retreat toward the highest mountains by Wednesday. A slight cooldown arrives Friday, but beaches remain hazardous through Tuesday with high surf, dangerous rip currents and pockets of coastal flooding.

Malka Opens a Glatt Kosher Israeli Restaurant in Beverly Hills

Chef Eyal Shani has brought Malka to the ground floor of the SIXTY Hotel in Beverly Hills. The restaurant opened August 27 with a seasonal, Glatt kosher menu built around vegetables, fish, olive oil, tahini and the lively dining-room energy associated with Shani’s restaurants. Chef Loel Miller leads the kitchen, serving dishes including toasted focaccia with steak tartare or smoky eggplant caviar. Groups of nine to sixteen can choose a prix-fixe format, and the wine list stays entirely mevushal kosher.

Nancy Silverton is bringing an Italian American steakhouse to Palisades Village. Spacca Tutto is planned for 15225 Palisades Village Lane, with wide-cut steaks, seafood, seasonal salads and Focaccia di Recco extending the meat-forward approach of Chi Spacca.The AvroKO-designed restaurant pairs a 3,000-square-foot dining room with a 1,500-square-foot patio and piano bar. The wine program is expected to feature 250 Italian and domestic selections as the team prepares the opening.

Tenderfest Returns to Beverly Hills for All You Can Eat Chicken Tenders

Holographic Dinosaurs Debut at Aquarium of the Pacific

A triceratops appears in the Aquarium of the Pacific immersive HoloTheater.
The Aquarium of the Pacific has turned its Ocean Theater into a new HoloTheater experience. The Long Beach aquarium says the installation is the first of its kind on the U.S. West Coast, using panoramic projection, holographic imagery and spatial audio to bring prehistoric creatures and ocean ecosystems into the room without glasses or headsets. The opening show, Dinosaur Discoveries: A Holographic Adventure, runs about 25 minutes, with daily screenings and a separate HoloTheater ticket required in addition to Aquarium admission.

Metro's Vermont Bus Line Gets a $150M Boost

Metro just landed $150 million in federal funding through the Federal Transit Administration to push the Vermont Avenue Bus Rapid Transit line toward completion. The 12.4 mile corridor runs from Hollywood Boulevard down to 120th Street and is Metro's busiest bus route, carrying more than 36,000 daily trips today. The new funding stacks on top of Measure M dollars already committed and is expected to bring rider counts closer to 66,000 once the 26 upgraded stations open. Metro is targeting full completion by 2028, timed ahead of the LA Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Port of LA Posts Second-Busiest July On Record

The Port of Los Angeles processed 960,464 container units in July, its second-busiest July on record, continuing a stretch of historically strong cargo volume at the nation's busiest port. Executive Director Gene Seroka said resilient consumer demand is keeping imports at historically strong levels, with another strong month expected in August. Through the first seven months of 2026, the Port has handled just over 6 million container units, running 1.8% ahead of the same period last year.

The 2026 summer box office set an all-time record at $4.76 billion, edging past 2013's previous high of $4.756 billion.
