Met Her at a Bar is now open at 2651 Main Street in Santa Monica. The all-day flagship serves from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It is Mindy and Vinny Kinne's first Santa Monica restaurant and the sixth restaurant they have opened since 2017.

Main Street puts the couple's five concepts under one roof. Mornings bring La Colombe coffee, Belgian waffles and Thai chicken and waffles, while the kitchen shifts later to pasta, Neapolitan pizza and select Pan-Asian dishes. A hidden garden patio out back seats roughly 50 to 60 around a fireplace and water feature.

Torrance gets its first Prime Pizza on Monday, September 14. The new shop at 3720 Sepulveda Blvd is the brand's twelfth location and its second in the South Bay, bringing 18-inch New York-style rounds, Brooklyn squares, gluten-free and vegan pies, and the daily $10 lunch special before 4 p.m.

The butter chicken pan pie pictured here is Prime's 2026 Badmaash collaboration, built with mozzarella, bell peppers and pickled onions. It is a limited run and is not confirmed for opening day. Hours and a phone number are still pending.

Breakfast by Salt's Cure is now open at 4348 Fountain Avenue in Silver Lake. The shop serves daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with walk-ins only. It joins the still-open Hollywood and Santa Monica shops as the brand's third Los Angeles location.

The menu centers on oatmeal griddle cakes with soft middles and crisp, lacy edges. The OG comes as a stack of three with cinnamon molasses butter, while blueberry, banana nut and chocolate versions round out the griddle-cake lineup. Silver Lake keeps the rest tight with an egg sandwich, avocado toast, a little omelette, home fries and pork, chicken or garbanzo sausage.

CicLAvia’s Heart of LA route returns Sunday, October 11, from 9 AM to 4 PM. The free open-streets day gives 6.5 miles back to walkers, cyclists, skaters, strollers and wheelchairs, linking Echo Park, Downtown, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, the Arts District and Boyle Heights.

The route follows the original 2010 corridor, with hubs in Echo Park, Chinatown, Little Tokyo and Mariachi Plaza. There is no start line or finish line, and Metro stations line the corridor. People-powered wheels only, with Class 1 e-bikes welcome.

The Abbot Kinney Festival returns to Venice on Sunday, September 27, from 10 AM to 6 PM. The free, all-day event takes over Abbot Kinney Boulevard after a two-year hiatus, with live music, food, independent vendors and family programming.

The 40th edition is also a fundraiser for Venice youth, arts and community programs. Organizers are planning the Spirit of Venice stage, DJ sets in the ANNEX, a KidsQuad zone, beer gardens and free bike-valet stations at both ends of the route.

Exposition Park's new landmark is ready for its close-up. The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opens September 22 with 100,000 square feet of exhibition space across more than 30 galleries, spanning works from prehistoric cave paintings to modern cinema.

Its opening exhibition will put about 1,300 works on view from a collection of more than 40,000. The five-story MAD Architects building also includes two theaters, a research library, classrooms, a shop, a cafe, Skywalker Grill and new public gardens designed by Studio-MLA.

Pasadena-based location intelligence company Azira says its new Azira One platform lets destination marketers explore and visualize location data by asking questions in ordinary language. The product is in beta with destination marketing organizations and travel marketers, according to the company's announcement.

The company says it plans to expand Azira One to retail and quick-service restaurants later in 2026. It also plans to add campaign-building and measurement tools by the end of the fourth quarter. Pasadena Now reported that an independent launch date was not available.

Hollywood labor wants Washington to help put Los Angeles crews back to work. SAG-AFTRA and the Teamsters are backing a proposed federal film and television tax credit that would stack on top of existing state incentives, roughly doubling the benefit and strengthening the U.S. response to Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia.

No bill has passed. Supporters say the credit could return productions and thousands of jobs to the country while creating new opportunities for the businesses around them. The White House has urged Congress to pursue bipartisan legislation.

UCLA's reset starts in Berkeley. The Bruins open the 2026 season against longtime rival Cal on Saturday, September 5, at 7:30 p.m. PT on ESPN, marking Bob Chesney's debut as UCLA head coach. It is the programs' 95th meeting and their first since 2023.

The roster looks almost as new as the sideline. UCLA leads the Big Ten with 45 incoming transfers, while senior quarterback Nico Iamaleava returns after leading the Bruins in rushing last season. Chesney arrives with a 132-52 career record and six straight season-opening wins.
