West Hollywood Offers Free CPR, First Aid, AED Certification Training on Oct. 10
The City of West Hollywood is providing community members with free American Red Cross certification in CPR, First Aid and AED on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at the West Hollywood Park Aquatic and Recreation Center.
The City of West Hollywood is opening a free American Red Cross certification class that covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid and automated external defibrillator use for anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency. The training is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026 and is open to all residents and visitors who register in advance.
Participants can choose between a morning session from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or an afternoon session from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Both sessions will be held in the Fairfax/La Brea Room of the West Hollywood Park Aquatic and Recreation Center at 8750 El Tovar Place, next to the West Hollywood Library. Limited parking is available at the nearby five-story structure on 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard.
The city notes that rapid bystander response can double a victim’s chance of survival, and the free class is designed to give residents the confidence to act when minutes count.
Training Curriculum and Certification Process
The certification program will teach adult and pediatric CPR, basic first aid techniques and how to operate an AED. Instructors from the American Red Cross will demonstrate each skill and supervise hands-on practice so participants can apply what they learn in realistic scenarios.
Before the in-person portion, each registrant must complete an online learning module that takes about two and a half hours. The city will email a link to the module seven days before the scheduled class, and the online coursework must be finished before the day of the training.
On the day of the class, participants will spend roughly one and a half to two hours in a review session followed by a practical test. The review reinforces the online material and the test confirms that each person can perform the skills correctly.
After successfully completing the review and test, attendees receive an official American Red Cross certification in CPR, First Aid and AED use, which they can use for personal confidence or to meet workplace requirements.

The two three-hour sessions are held in the Fairfax/La Brea Room of the West Hollywood Park Aquatic and Recreation Center, a facility that is adjacent to the West Hollywood Library and easily reachable by public transit. Parking for participants is limited to the West Hollywood Park Five-Story parking structure at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard. The city advises arriving early to secure a spot, especially if you are attending the popular morning session.
