Westside Oyster Club has opened on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica, a stylish new raw bar and seafood spot from the team behind The Albright, taking over the former Blue Plate Oysterette space. The menu leans New England, with fresh oysters, clam chowder bread bowls, and lobster rolls built for the beach breeze. It brings a polished, classic seafood counter back to a prime stretch near the pier. A welcome catch for the Westside.

Little Fish, the cult Echo Park seafood spot from chefs Anna Sonenshein and Niki Vahle, is trading its walk-up window for a full sit-down room on the same Sunset block. The menu splits between seafood-forward plates and playful deli and Nordic cafe classics, led by the beer-battered Pacific striped bass sandwich that built its following. Expect fish congee, smoked whitefish tartine, nori-seasoned crispy potatoes, and specialty espresso in the expanded space. The move gives one of LA's best-value kitchens, a two-time Michelin Bib Gourmand, real room to grow.

Daybird, the cult Sichuan fried chicken shop, just opened its new home at 7217 Melrose Avenue, trading its Silver Lake origins for a larger, bar-like room with marble counters and gold rooster lamps. The kitchen keeps the crave-worthy hits, spicy tenders and over-the-top fried chicken sandwiches, and adds a fried fish sandwich crowned with caviar tartar sauce. The Infatuation already flagged it as a spot to watch for fried chicken fans. It is a spicy, joyful addition to the Melrose stretch.

The former World Trade Center office building in Downtown is being converted into Sky Castle, an adaptive-reuse project delivering 512 apartments. Kennedy Wilson and Jamison are leading the conversion, with the first 241 units set to land by late 2026 and rents starting around 937 dollars. It is one of the clearest examples yet of LA turning empty office space into places to live. The full vision points toward thousands of units across similar transit-adjacent conversions.
