👋 HEY CUTIE

CurationsLA just got a homepage design refresh, with a fresh news ticker, a What's Filming in LA module, and live job opportunities (with more companies and opportunities to roll out). Building it came with its share of technical difficulties (hence today's Wednesday publication), but it was so worth it, and so is building in public with this community. On that note, I am beyond excited to share that Microsoft has officially partnered with CurationsLA x CURATIONS to financially back the platform's infrastructure and the new AI features coming soon. Keep the features and design feedback flowing, please ignore any mess along the way, and in these times of AI vibe coding, I am reminded to just ship. CurationsLA will be off this Friday to tighten things up internally, and we will be back Tuesday. But first, here is a shipment of today plus this weekend's Good Vibes. - Wyatt

4-DAY FORECAST · LA

DISCUSSION: Quiet, near-seasonal stretch. Morning marine clouds peel back to full sun by midday today and tomorrow, with a small chance of an afternoon mountain shower in both LA and Ventura. A gentle warm-up rolls through tomorrow into Friday with breezy late-day winds across the Antelope Valley and I-5 corridor. Saturday holds steady with a touch of June Gloom in the early hours before bright skies return. Late-season rain teases for early next week. VIEW FORECAST

💭 QUOTE OF THE DAY

When it comes to doing product dev, I have two core rules for founders: 1. Ship, ship, ship. 2. Be radically transparent with users.

🥂 TRÈS LA

TRÉS la on instagram

Alan Dunn's Très LA Group, the 23-year-old catering house behind countless Carondelet and Ebell weddings, has finally planted a flagship inside the Pacific Design Center's Blue Building at 8687 Melrose Avenue. The Parisian-meets-California bistro opened weekday breakfast and lunch on April 13 with gold-framed mirrors, checkered floors, marble counters, and a weekly-rotating seasonal menu running herb-roasted chicken, grilled salmon, and pastry-case mornings. Dinner service officially launches Monday, May 11th, with weekends following soon after, and reservations are already live through the cafe's own site. It is the first real all-day public room inside the famously trade-only PDC complex, and a homecoming for a hospitality team trained at the Standard Hollywood and Chateau Marmont.

RUMI'S KITCHEN ON INSTAGRAM

Atlanta's upscale Persian chain Rumi's Kitchen makes its West Coast debut this May on the second floor of Westfield Century City. Helmed by chef Ali Mesghali, who grew up between Iran and Los Angeles, the menu runs shirazi salad, fattoush, labne, fried eggplant, and saffron-rice kabobs alongside Persian baklava and a full wine and beer program. The flagship adds two private dining rooms, an expansive patio overlooking Santa Monica Boulevard, and a slate of menu items crafted specifically for Los Angeles. It is the brand's first California room after Atlanta, Alpharetta, Houston, and Washington DC, and a homecoming for a chef returning to where he was raised.

UOICHIBA ON INSTAGRAM

Liwei Liao's Sherman Oaks dry-aged seafood market finally dropped its anchor downtown on East 1st Street with a cafe and bakery, a fish market, and a 34-seat hand-roll bar called Uoichiba. The cafe pours from 8am, the market opens at 10am, and Uoichiba's temaki service kicks off at noon Tuesday through Sunday. Liao spent thirty-five years recreationally fishing before turning fish-obsessed engineer into LA's most precise dry-age program. The new flagship gives downtowners that program five days a week.

💎 RENDERINGS FOR THE EASTERN

HANDEL ARCHITECTS

Millennium Partners just revised plans for The Eastern, a 34-story, 434-foot glass-and-steel residential tower at 8300 Wilshire Boulevard on the eastern edge of Beverly Hills. The Handel Architects design now calls for 211 one, two, and three-bedroom homes above 10,574 square feet of ground-floor restaurant space and a 473-car garage. To qualify for AB 2011 streamlining, the developer raised the affordable component from 22 to 32 very low and moderate income units, while Rios takes the lead on landscape architecture. The curved-silhouette tower is positioned as Wilshire's eastern bookend through Beverly Hills, mirroring the $5 billion One Beverly Hills development rising at the corridor's western end.

LAKERS

🏀 LAKERS VS. ROCKETS G5

The Lakers can punch their ticket to the Western Conference Semifinals tonight when LeBron James and the purple-and-gold host the Houston Rockets in Game 5 at Crypto.com Arena, with tipoff at 7pm on ESPN. LA holds a 3-1 series lead behind LeBron's late-game heroics in Game 3 and steady contributions from Marcus Smart, Luke Kennard, and Deandre Ayton, all without Luka Dončić or Austin Reaves dressed for a single minute of the series. Reaves is officially questionable tonight with an oblique issue, while Houston will be without Kevin Durant, Steven Adams, and Fred VanVleet for a Rockets squad fighting to extend its season. Crypto.com Arena should be at full volume for what could be a close-out moment, with the second round waiting on the other side.

✅ TRIVIA ANSWER

ANSWER: 2003

Founder Alan Dunn launched Très LA as a boutique catering brand with what he calls "a simple belief that dining should do more than satisfy, it should inspire." Built on years of hospitality leadership at The Standard Hollywood and the iconic Chateau Marmont, the operation has grown into a full Très LA Group hospitality portfolio over the past two decades. The brand-new Pacific Design Center bistro and café opens its doors on May 11th at 8687 Melrose Avenue, Suite G-180.
