👋
HEY CUTIE
We made it to Friday, one-off from our traditional
Tue/Thu due to the NFL Draft. Shout out to anyone
who survived refresh-tab hell watching round one
last night: Rams Nation, we'll talk. This
weekend is one of those 'pack a jacket, run
the coast early' kinds. We will have some
rain rolling through tomorrow, LACMA Geffen still
glowing downtown, and day two of the draft is
wrapping during your brunch surfeit. For next
Tuesday, I'm already chasing a few
reader-reply threads that I think you'll
love. Catch you Tuesday! -

DISCUSSION: Near-normal temperatures hold into Friday with
partly cloudy skies and afternoon coast breezes
staying just below advisory levels. A weak trough
sweeps through Saturday with a decent chance of
light showers after noon, most areas under a tenth
of an inch and up to a quarter inch in mountain
locations, with downsloping from the Transverse
range keeping it drier from southeast Santa
Barbara into western LA County. Gusty
southwest-to-west winds develop later Saturday,
strongest in the Antelope Valley with gusts to
around 45 mph. Sunday trends dry and cool with a
20% chance of lingering morning showers before
clearing, and Monday stays benign with highs still
3-6 degrees below normal.

Dodgers rookie pitcher Fernando Valenzuela tosses
his third shutout in four starts, pouring gasoline
on the Fernandomania fire already lighting up
Chavez Ravine. El Toro rode that spring all the
way to both Rookie of the Year and the Cy Young
that fall, a double no pitcher had ever pulled off
before.

BREA MALL
NORTH ITALIA HITS 50TH AT BREA
@EATNORTHITALIA
The Fox Restaurant Concepts flagship crossed its
50th-location milestone on Wednesday, and it is
landing at the Brea Mall with chef Chris Curtiss
running the corporate culinary playbook. The
opening marks the chain's second Orange
County store after Irvine, with handmade pastas,
wood-fired pizzas and seasonal antipasti anchoring
the menu. Curtiss climbed San Francisco kitchens
like Quince and Madcap before joining restaurateur
Sam Fox's team in Phoenix back in 2010. A
polished date-night play for the
north OC crowd hungry for a little bit of Italy
between Brea and Fullerton.

ROSHONA BILASH BRINGS BENGALI HOME
ROSHONA BILASH
Bangladeshi comfort food finally gets a proper LA
stage at Roshona Bilash, chef-owner Abul
Ibrahim's long-awaited return to the line
after decades away. The name translates to
luxurious taste and the 861 N Western Ave
quick-service room leans into Bengali classics
like bone-marrow nihari, morog polao, beef teheri
and breads pulled from a clay oven. Stephanie
Breijo's LA Times profile on March 27 set the
table, with plans for coastal Bangladeshi seafood
dishes still to come. A Melrose Hill soft-open
worth the detour before the regional specials roll
in.

📺 NETFLIX
NETFLIX NEARS $330M RADFORD DEAL
Netflix is in final talks to acquire the historic
Radford Studio Center in Studio City for a price
tag around $330 million, putting the streamer on
the verge of owning a Valley backlot long known as
the home of CBS sitcom classics like Seinfeld. The
acquisition would hand Netflix its first major
owned Los Angeles production campus, anchoring
decades of soundstage, post-production, and office
space tucked between Ventura Boulevard and the
Metro Orange Line. A close look within
reach this quarter
per Hollywood Reporter sources
close to the negotiation. A Radford-anchored
footprint stacks on Netflix's already-growing
West Coast production muscle.

NFL DRAFT
MENDOZA HEADLINES WILD PITTSBURGH NIGHT
Round 1 kicked off Thursday night in Pittsburgh
with the Raiders locking in Indiana QB Fernando
Mendoza at No. 1 overall, followed by Texas Tech
EDGE David Bailey to the Jets and Notre Dame RB
Jeremiyah Love to the Cardinals in the
night's first stunner. Ohio State WR Carnell
Tate then went No. 4 to Tennessee over every
projected defender, Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson
landed at No. 8 with New Orleans, and Dallas
traded up to No. 11 to grab Ohio State safety
Caleb Downs. Eight trades, nine offensive linemen,
and seven teams making multiple first-round picks
made it a
lively night in Pittsburgh, with
the Jets leading everyone at three selections.
Miami EDGE Rueben Bain Jr. capped the top 15 with
Tampa Bay, and eight clubs sat Day 1 out entirely
before Friday's resume here shortly

RAMS
STAFFORD SUCCESSION PLAN LANDS IN LA
Les Snead and Sean McVay shook the board by taking
Alabama QB Ty Simpson with the 13th overall pick,
after trading their original first-rounder to
Kansas City this offseason for All-Pro corner
Trent McDuffie. The Rams called Simpson a bonus
pick from last year's Atlanta trade and
framed him as the
long-term answer behind
38-year-old reigning MVP Matthew Stafford, whom
the club briefed ahead of the call per Tom
Pelissero. Thursday's Hollywood Park press
conference ran a subdued 11 minutes with few
smiles, though Pelissero reported the move had
been months in the making internally. Day 2
resumes at 4 PM PT Friday with Los Angeles holding
pick No. 61 in Round 2 and No. 93 in Round 3, with
wide receiver depth behind Puka Nacua plus
offensive line help still topping the remaining
board

⚡ CHARGERS
BOLTS LAND MIAMI EDGE RUSHER
Jim Harbaugh and GM Joe Hortiz grabbed Miami EDGE
Akheem Mesidor at No. 22 overall, a 2025
Second-Team All-American who posted 12.5 sacks and
17.5 tackles for loss as a senior and 35.5 sacks
across his full college career. Mesidor projects
as a
plug-and-play rusher opposite
Tuli Tuipulotu with Khalil Mack, Bud Dupree, and
Kyle Kennard rounding out the rotation, and the
25-year-old told reporters he can't wait to
get to work during Thursday night's virtual
media session. The Chargers still hold their
original picks in Rounds 2, 3, 4, and 6, with Day
2 stops at No. 55 and No. 86 once the 49ers open
Round 2 from pick No. 33. Top remaining needs per
ESPN stay interior offensive line (RG, LG) and
defensive tackle, so keep an eye on Ohio State DT
Kayden McDonald and Georgia Tech IOL Keylan
Rutledge if they fall.
