Monroe Place has brought its Culver City sandwich operation to 1253 Vine Street in Hollywood. The new shop is open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., or until sold out.

The Infatuation highlights the W.L.F., a turkey sandwich with pomegranate molasses and barberries, alongside chicken Caesar focaccia and a baguette filled with burrata and confit tomato. Prefer a bowl to bread? The shop can turn its sandwiches into salads on request.

Chef Majda Belaroui's Café Maghreb is working toward a permanent home. Beverly Press reported in July that the North African pop-up planned to open its first brick-and-mortar restaurant in November.

The Sunset Strip is getting a day of its own. Live On Sunset will bring a free music festival to Sunset Boulevard between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard on Saturday, November 14. The City of West Hollywood's event will feature an outdoor stage, performances across genres and generations, activities, and food and drinks.

USC is planning a new home for virtual filmmaking at 3131 S. Figueroa Street, beside its Robert Zemeckis Center for Digital Arts. City-filed plans reviewed by CurationsLA show a two-story Blavatnik Center for Virtual Production, supported by a $25 million lead gift from the Blavatnik Family Foundation.

The planned facility includes two LED-wall stages, performance-capture technology, classrooms, and labs for real-time digital production. USC's target is fall 2027. The current milestone is the planning proposal; an opening or construction start has not been announced in this report.

LAX is participating in Gateside by TSA PreCheck, which lets eligible visitors apply for free access beyond airport security without a plane ticket. That can mean a gate-side goodbye, a meal with a friend on a layover, or a welcome for someone coming home.

The Port of Los Angeles processed 955,907 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of cargo in August, closing the busiest three consecutive months in its history. More than 2.9 million TEUs moved through the Port during June, July, and August, according to its September 9 release.

August volume was roughly level with last year and 6 percent above the month's five-year average. Executive Director Gene Seroka credited resilient consumer demand, early holiday shipments, and a broad mix of cargo for the strong summer.

Through the first eight months of 2026, the Port handled just over 7 million TEUs, running 1.5 percent ahead of the same period last year.
