Happy Tuesday, Cutie! As mentioned, CurationsLA is now moving to a Tuesday/Thursday schedule. Tuesdays are perfect for scoping out what's happening this week, since most of us spend Mondays catching up from the weekend. Thursdays let us plan ahead for the good stuff. The timing also works out nicely, because I've saved us all from a bad April Fools' prank, which is tomorrow. In the spirit of good luck on the first of the month, don't forget to say, 'rabbit, rabbit, rabbit,' when you first wake up.

Sweet E's Bake Shop is headed to Beverly Hills at 9637 S Santa Monica Blvd, taking over the former psychic shop space right next to the old Sprinkles. Founded in 2009 by Erica "Sweet E" Tucker right here in LA, the bakery is known for custom celebration cakes, logo cookies, cakesicles, and cupcakes loved by clients ranging from Paris Hilton to Dior. The new storefront expands Sweet E's established delivery and e-commerce operation with a brick-and-mortar presence on one of Beverly Hills' busiest corridors.

Milaluna Salsa Mística, the luxury small-batch salsa line co-founded by actor Jaime Camil and entrepreneur Heidi Balvanera, is now available at Erewhon and select LA retailers. Rooted in ancestral Mexican recipes and reimagined for LA's food-forward palate, the line features two flagship flavors: a bright Salsa Verde con Cilantro built from a family recipe using organic tomatillos and Serrano peppers, and the bold Salsa Roja Trufa Blanca elevated with white truffle. Both are handcrafted in small batches and bottled in elegant, recyclable glass.

This beloved Argentinian restaurant closed over a decade ago and has now reopened in the same Lincoln Blvd location under the same ownership. The menu goes deep with tapas like gambas al ajillo and crispy mollejas, wood-fired pizzas, paninis, pastas, steaks and salads. Every Sunday night they fire up the outdoor grill for a full parrillada dinner with short ribs, picanha, chorizo, sweetbreads and morcilla. Lesson: it's never too late for a comeback.

Wiseman Residential has filed plans for a 490-unit mixed-use complex at 9000-9020 Venice Boulevard, directly across from the Culver City Metro station. The seven-story project by Reed Architectural Group would replace an existing retail center with three interconnected buildings featuring studios to three-bedrooms, 15,689 sq ft of ground-floor commercial space, and a subterranean garage for 266 vehicles. 64 units are set aside as affordable housing for extremely low-income residents.

Eli Roth's slasher remake 'Ice Cream Man' is heading to 2,000 North American theaters on August 7. The horror film follows an idyllic summer town that descends into madness when an ice cream man serves kids sweet delights with horrifying results. The cast includes Ari Millen in the title role alongside Benjamin Byron Davis, Karen Cliche and Dylan Hawco. It will be the first release from The Horror Section, distributed via Iconic Events Releasing. Summer just got a whole lot creepier.

TikTok is making its own shows. The company has started casting actors for a soap opera-style micro drama production and recently filed a US trademark for "TikTok Drama." The move comes after TikTok launched a dedicated short drama feed in the US, currently filled with third-party content (including some AI-generated series featuring dancing polar bears, yes really). Mini dramas have quietly grown into a $1.4 billion market in the US, with apps like ReelShort and DramaBox leading the way. Netflix, Paramount and Disney are all eyeing the format too. Hollywood actors are even pivoting to "verticals" as a new income stream. Whether TikTok becomes the Netflix of bite-sized soap operas or just tests the waters remains to be seen, but the short drama boom is very real.
