After a years-long social-media outcry, Chipotle Mexican Grill announced on Sep. 28 that it is bringing back its original margarita recipe for a limited run in October. The brand’s “Summon the Spirits Tour” will feature a $6 margarita made with five real ingredients, premium tequila, triple sec, citrus juice, agave nectar and a fresh lime wedge, at a single Chipotle location each weekend, with stops in Denver, New York, Dallas, Los Angeles and New Orleans. Guests must be 21 or older to order, and the drink will be served from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. local time on both Friday and Saturday each weekend.

The Los Angeles leg lands in Hollywood on Oct. 23 and Oct. 24 at 7660 W. Sunset Blvd., where Chipotle will transform part of the restaurant into a Halloween-themed margarita bar. The pop-up promises immersive décor, interactive moments and chances for patrons to unlock Chipotle prizes, all designed to build excitement for the brand’s annual Boorito celebration on Halloween night.

While the tour’s final weekend in New Orleans will serve as the Halloweekend finale, Chipotle has said additional details about the Boorito entrée offer on Oct. 31 will be announced later in the month. For now, Los Angeles fans can mark their calendars for a two-day, $6 cocktail experience that nods to the chain’s founding spirit and the city’s star-studded nightlife.

Summon the Spirits Tour rolls across the country

The tour kicks off in Chipotle’s birthplace, Denver, on Oct. 2-3 at 2760 S. Colorado Blvd., before moving to Brooklyn, New York (185 Montague St.) on Oct. 9-10, and then to Dallas (2401 Victory Park Lane) on Oct. 16-17, where a frozen version of the margarita will be offered alongside the classic. Each stop will feature a dedicated margarita bar, Halloween-style décor, and interactive elements that let guests earn digital prizes, according to the company’s press release on newsroom.chipotle.com.

The $6 price point is uniform across all five cities, and the drink’s simplicity mirrors Chipotle’s broader brand promise of “real food with real ingredients.” The company highlighted that the margarita contains no artificial flavors or mixes, reinforcing its commitment to clean-label offerings. The tour’s schedule deliberately spaces the pop-ups one weekend apart, giving fans in each market a focused window to experience the revival before the Halloween climax.

Beyond the beverage, Chipotle is using the tour to tease its upcoming Boorito tradition, an in-restaurant entrée promotion that returns each October 31. While the specifics of the Boorito deal remain “to be announced later in October,” the brand frames the margarita pop-ups as a countdown that heightens anticipation for the Halloween night celebration.

THE HOLLYWOOD POP-UP

Hollywood’s two-day margarita showcase

Los Angeles’ stop arrives on Oct. 23-24 at the Sunset Boulevard location (7660 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90046). The venue will be rebranded for the weekend as a “Summon the Stars” pop-up, with the company describing the space as a place where “spirits take center stage.” The décor will lean into Hollywood glamour, featuring themed lighting, seasonal props and a dedicated bar where bartenders will mix the classic margarita to order.

In addition to the drink, Chipotle plans interactive moments such as QR-code challenges that unlock exclusive digital badges and the chance to win Chipotle merchandise. The brand also promises “opportunities to unlock Chipotle prizes,” a nod to its broader loyalty ecosystem. As with the other tour stops, the LA pop-up will operate from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, giving evening-goers a chance to pair the cocktail with the chain’s signature bowls or tacos.

The limited-time nature of the event means the $6 margarita will only be available at this single Hollywood location during the two-day window. Chipotle’s senior vice president of brand marketing, Stephanie Perdue, emphasized that the revival is “a chance for fans to rediscover the iconic Chipotle Margarita, made with just five real ingredients and the same simplicity we bring to our food.” The company’s focus on a single venue per city underscores the exclusivity of the experience, turning each stop into a destination event for local fans.

Chipotle’s Hollywood margarita bar taps into that energy, offering a $6, five-ingredient cocktail that nods to the brand’s roots while giving Angelenos a Halloween-ready hangout. The two-day window creates urgency, making it a perfect weekend plan for locals looking to sip something familiar yet freshly staged in the heart of Hollywood.
