Chipotle offers free double protein on Aug 27 to celebrate final week of Honey Chicken

On Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026, Chipotle Mexican Grill will give diners a free double protein boost on any full-priced burrito, bowl or salad ordered through its digital channels, provided they enter the code PROTEIN at checkout. The one-day promotion coincides with the final week of the brand’s fan-favorite Chipotle Honey Chicken, a limited-time offering that has driven record demand since its debut in 2025.

The offer is limited to orders placed on the Chipotle app, Chipotle.com or Chipotle.ca for participating restaurants in the United States and Canada during regular business hours. It does not apply to in-restaurant purchases, third-party delivery platforms, or side items such as the High Protein Cup, tacos, quesadillas or kids’ meals. Guests can redeem only one free double protein portion per transaction, and mixed-protein orders will be charged for the higher-priced protein.

Chipotle says the promotion is a “last celebration” for Honey Chicken before the product is pulled from menus, and hints at additional menu innovations slated for the fall season.

SECTION 01

How to redeem the free double protein

To claim the free extra protein, shoppers must log in to the Chipotle app or website, select a full-priced burrito, bowl or salad, and enter the promotional code PROTEIN at checkout. The system will automatically apply a complimentary portion of the chosen protein, either meat or Sofritas, on the order. The code can be used only once per eligible transaction, and each guest is limited to one free double protein per day, as outlined in the official terms on the Chipotle Double Protein Promo page.

Redemption is subject to availability and cannot be combined with other coupons, promotions or special offers. The offer is void where prohibited and may be restricted by additional local regulations. Guests should note that the promotion is not valid for High Protein Cup side items, tacos, quesadillas, kids’ meals, or any order placed through third-party delivery services. For a complete list of restrictions, see the terms posted by Chipotle.

SECTION 02

Honey Chicken’s final week and what’s next

Chipotle Honey Chicken, a grilled chicken marinated in smoky chipotle peppers and finished with a touch of pure honey, entered the menu in 2025 and quickly became the chain’s best-selling limited-time offering. After a spring-time return that began on April 28 across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France and Germany, the protein is now in its final week of service, prompting the brand to mark the occasion with the free double protein promotion.

While the Honey Chicken will disappear after the promotion, Chipotle hints at new flavors and customization options slated for the fall. The company’s senior brand marketing executive, Stephanie Perdue, emphasized that the brand’s pipeline of “craveable new flavors” aims to keep the menu fresh for its digitally savvy customer base, especially in markets like Los Angeles where mobile ordering accounts for a large share of traffic.

🗒 Curator’s Note

Los Angeles diners love Chipotle’s digital-first approach, and this promotion leverages the city’s high app usage to drive traffic during the last days of a beloved limited-time item. The free double protein may boost lunchtime rushes at local Chipotle locations, while the tease of fall flavors keeps the brand top-of-mind for Angelenos who constantly seek the next bold taste.
