Chargers Center Tyler Biadasz Reportedly Out Indefinitely with ACL Injury
Biadasz went down when a 49ers defensive tackle fell on his left leg during a joint practice drill; rookie Jake Slaughter stepped in as Los Angeles prepares for its Week 2 preseason game at SoFi Stadium.
The Chargers' offensive line took its biggest hit of camp. Center Tyler Biadasz reportedly sustained an ACL injury and is out indefinitely after 49ers defensive tackle Sebastian Valdez fell on his left leg during a Tuesday practice drill, per the LA Times.
Rookie offensive lineman Jake Slaughter replaced Biadasz in the drill. Slaughter had been competing for the left guard job and now sits among the candidates to start at center if Biadasz misses extended time.
The Rookie Steps Into the Room
SECTION 01Slaughter did not dress it up. Yeah, man, that hurt me, he said of watching Biadasz go down, calling the veteran a wonderful mentor and such a good leader in the room who helped him see the big picture better.
On the possibility of starting: I take it as a blessing that I can help the team in any way that I can. The Chargers host the 49ers in Week 2 of preseason play at SoFi Stadium and appear likely to be shorthanded up front.
“He's been nothing but a wonderful mentor. We're hoping and praying he's in a good spot.”
— JAKE SLAUGHTER, CHARGERS OFFENSIVE LINEMAN
