Marvel Studios Announces 'Ghost Rider' Film Starring Ryan Gosling

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed a new Ghost Rider film at San Diego Comic-Con, with Ryan Gosling starring and 'Deadpool & Wolverine' director Shawn Levy behind the wheel — riding into theaters in 2028.

SAN DIEGO — Marvel Studios has announced a new Ghost Rider film starring Ryan Gosling, unveiled by studio president Kevin Feige during the company's Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026.

Shawn Levy, director of Deadpool & Wolverine, will direct the film, which is set to hit theaters in 2028.

Gosling Takes the Wheel

Feige, who noted he has long fielded questions about when both Ghost Rider and Gosling might join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, introduced the actor to raucous cheers. "Wow, is this really happening?" Gosling told the crowd. "As you know, this is a character I've wanted to play for a very long time."

Gosling then told the audience that "only one director" could bring Ghost Rider to the screen, welcoming Levy to the stage.

A Partnership Forged on Set

Gosling and Levy are already collaborating on Star Wars: Starfighter, due in theaters May 28, 2027. Levy told the crowd the pair spent much of their downtime on that set daydreaming about Ghost Rider and swapping ideas.

"As Ryan started talking about his vision for this character, we started riffing," Levy said. "And I finally said, 'Bro, let's ride.' So guys, we'll see you in 2028." The reveal was one of several from Marvel Studios' blockbuster Hall H panel at Comic-Con.
