Biking the Marvin Braude trail — tips for first-timers

The beach bike path from Santa Monica to Torrance is one of the best rides in LA. Start early (before 9am) to avoid crowds. Rent from one of the shops on the Promenade, not the boardwalk ones. Pack water — there aren't many refill spots south of Venice.
