At Pinterest, we’re on a mission to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love, and that starts with the people behind the product.

Discover a career where you ignite innovation for millions, transform passion into growth opportunities, celebrate each other’s unique experiences and embrace the flexibility to do your best work. Creating a career you love? It’s Possible.

At Pinterest, AI isn't just a feature, it's a powerful partner that augments our creativity and amplifies our impact, and we’re looking for candidates who are excited to be a part of that. To get a complete picture of your experience and abilities, we’ll explore your foundational skills and how you collaborate with AI.

Through our interview process, what matters most is that you can always explain your approach, showing us not just what you know, but how you think. You can read more about our AI interview philosophy and how we use AI in our recruiting process here.

The Team

Pinterest is a visual discovery platform where people go from inspiration to action, the Infra Governance space plays a foundational role: it helps ensure Pinterest’s infrastructure strategy can scale with product demand while remaining disciplined on cost, capacity, and long-term platform health. What is especially exciting about this team is the mix of technical strategy, planning rigor, and business impact—it sits close to infrastructure and platform engineering, close to Product execution, and close to the investment decisions that determine where Pinterest scales next. It is also an unusually strong fit for a senior IC TPM who wants to build governance mechanisms, improve transparency into where infrastructure and AI investment is going, and redesign high-toil operating workflows with AI-first methods. The TPM interview framework reinforces that this kind of role is about ambiguity handling, XFN influence, technical judgment, and mechanism-building at scale.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to translate infrastructure strategy into executable multi-quarter programs, with clear scope, sequencing, dependencies, governance forums, and measurable outcomes across the Infra Governance portfolio.
  • Lead capacity planning as a core operating motion: connect product demand, infrastructure supply, growth assumptions, and technical constraints into a durable planning cadence that enables earlier, better investment decisions.
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for infrastructure governance programs, building clear visibility into where investment is going today, where it is expected to go next, and what is driving movement versus plan.
  • Develop financial models, cost models, and scenario-planning frameworks that translate technical choices into business impact and support explicit trade-off discussions across capacity, cost, reliability, performance, and speed.
  • Build an investment transparency matrix for infrastructure and AI spend, including ownership, allocation, utilization, forecast, actuals, and decision points, so leadership can quickly understand where resources are being consumed and where intervention is needed.
  • Establish governance for AI token utilization and allocation, including forecasting demand, tracking usage, improving transparency, and helping teams understand the financial implications of model and token consumption choices.
  • Operationalize durable mechanisms for budgeting reviews, forecast updates, variance investigations, anomaly management, and optimization follow-through in partnership with Product, Engineering, Finance, Security, and Data.
  • Lead trade-off discussions that improve decision quality: synthesize technical inputs, business priorities, and financial signals into clear options, recommendations, and escalation-ready decisions.
  • Build the governance layer for execution: run portfolio reviews, dependency management, roadmap health reviews, planning checkpoints, and executive updates that keep large cross-functional programs aligned and on track.
  • Identify high-leverage opportunities to automate operational toil, especially in recurring workflows like status synthesis, planning reviews, dependency tracking, intake triage, forecast reconciliation, and action/decision capture.
  • Build AI-assisted frameworks, lightweight models, and workflow automations that improve decision-making, including dashboards, scenario tools, cost-model templates, token-usage views, and planning helpers that increase signal while reducing manual overhead.
  • Use GenAI as the default operating model for EP PgM execution—producing AI-assisted first drafts of core program artifacts, modernizing high-toil workflows into AI-first mechanisms (e.g., intake triage, status synthesis, action/decision extraction, risk & dependency tracking), and synthesizing signals to proactively surface risks, decision/trade-offs, and escalation paths.
  • Prototype solutions to augment decisions through data (e.g. dashboards, data analysis) or simplify processes (e.g. process and workflow helpers, or internal tools) using AI coding assistants (“vibe coding”).
  • Follow Pinterest AI guidance for risk, governance, and safety-by-design: appropriately handle sensitive data, validate AI-generated outputs, document assumptions/limits, and ensure AI-assisted workflows meet applicable policy/compliance expectations before broad adoption.

What we’re looking for:

  • 8+ years of Technical leadership experience owning large, ambiguous, cross-functional programs with senior stakeholder visibility and durable business impact.
  • Strong experience in infrastructure, platform, cloud economics, or adjacent environments where capacity, cost, performance be managed together.
  • Proven ability to translate strategy into executable programs: turning broad technical goals into roadmaps, governance mechanisms, planning cadences, and measurable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated strength in capacity planning, budgeting, forecasting, variation planning in environments with meaningful scale and complexity.
  • Strong financial modeling and cost modeling skills: able to build simple, credible models, pressure-test assumptions, and use data to guide prioritization and trade-off discussions.
  • Experience building transparency mechanisms for investment and utilization, including understanding where infrastructure or AI spend is going, where it is expected to go, and how ownership and allocation should work.
  • Strong technical breadth and judgment: able to partner effectively with engineering teams, drive clarity around requirements, and facilitate technical trade-offs without relying on coding depth; this is directly aligned to the technical breadth and judgment expectations in the interview guidance.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and executive communication: able to align teams with conflicting priorities, communicate clearly upward, and influence without direct authority; this is directly aligned to the XFN collaboration and communication expectations in the interview loop.
  • Experience building durable mechanisms rather than just managing tasks: governance processes, planning systems, dashboards, review cadences, and decision frameworks that scale across teams.
  • Workflow design, AI fluency, data & insights orientation: experience turning repeatable program work into durable, low-toil mechanisms and improving decision-making by using GenAI (e.g., strong prompting, vibe coding lightweight scripts/tools, dashboards, data analysis and leveraging agents where appropriate)
  • Safety-by-design AI fluency: experience operating within AI governance expectations (risk assessment, data handling, model/output validation, auditability/traceability) and proactively identifying where AI use is not appropriate or requires additional controls.
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • FinOps and investment transparency experience: Experience applying FinOps-style operating principles to infrastructure or AI spend, including allocation, forecasting, reporting, optimization, and building transparency matrices that clarify ownership, utilization, and investment decisions.
    • Executive influence across senior leadership: Experience influencing directors, VPs, or executive leadership by presenting current state, risks, proposals, and informed trade-offs clearly and concisely, which is explicitly called out in the IC16 collaboration and influence expectations.
    • Durable mechanism building: Experience creating best practices, tools, methodologies, dashboards, governance reviews, and operatinge across teams rather than managing one-off projects. The IC16 rubric explicitly calls for creating best practices, tools, and methodologies for the org.
    • Deep domain expertise in infrastructure, cloud, or AI platforms: Advanced understanding of domain concepts, emerging technologies, and related functions product, or data, consistent with the Staff TPM expectations for strong domain knowledge and the ability to apply it to positive program outcomes.
    • Mentorship and force multiplication: Experience mentoring other program managers or cross-functional partners and scaling impact through others while leading strategic progrevels of leadership. This is part of the IC16 expectation set for influence, leadership, and domain depth.

Reporting to Pinterest’s VP & GM of Monetization, the Senior Director of Product Management, Ads Quality, will own the end-to-end product vision and strategy for one of Pinterest's most significant and technically sophisticated domains.

The Senior Director of Product Management, Ads Quality will lead a team of 10–15 Product Managers, partnering at the highest levels across Engineering, Data Science, Machine Learning, Sales, and Go-to-Market to shape the future of advertising at Pinterest. They will be the strategic architect behind how we optimize for Pinner experience, advertiser outcomes, and Pinterest's long-term business growth — simultaneously and at scale.

The ideal candidate is an experienced product executive who brings deep expertise in digital advertising and ML-powered products, a strong executive presence, and a proven track record of building and inspiring high-performing PM organizations in complex, fast-moving environments.

What You’ll Do:

  • Set and drive organizational vision: Define and champion a multi-year product strategy for Pinterest's Ads Quality portfolio, ensuring alignment across business objectives, technical capabilities, and evolving market dynamics in digital advertising.
  • Lead a high-impact PM organization: Build, mentor, and inspire a team of 10–15 senior Product Managers, fostering a culture of product excellence, strategic rigor, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Shape the ML and AI technology roadmap: Partner with senior Engineering and ML leadership to guide the evolution of Pinterest's machine learning and generative AI technology stack, translating cutting-edge capabilities into differentiated advertising experiences.
  • Drive advertiser and Pinner value creation: Own the strategic balance between delivering measurable ROI for advertisers and preserving the authentic, high-quality inspiration experience that makes Pinterest unique.
  • Influence at the executive level: Serve as a key voice in monetization strategy discussions with C-suite and VP-level stakeholders, representing Ads Quality priorities and translating complex technical tradeoffs into clear business narratives.
  • Accelerate go-to-market impact: Partner with Product Marketing and Sales leadership to bring new advertising products to market, from ideation through launch and scaled growth.
  • Cross functional collaboration: Partner with the Engineering, Sales, Finance, and Legal teams to develop and implement measurement solutions while also helping with Advertiser and client facing technical communication.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 15+ years of product leadership experience, with a significant tenure in advertising technology, or data-driven marketing platforms
  • A proven track record of building and scaling ads products that have materially driven revenue and business growth
  • Executive presence and influence — experience presenting product vision to senior stakeholders and partnering closely with engineering teams to execute on roadmap
  • Experience leading large, high-performing PM organizations and developing the next generation of product leaders
  • A strategic mindset backed by strong analytical and data fluency, including comfort with ML/AI-driven product development
  • History of navigating complexity and driving alignment across large, matrixed organizations
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Staff Research Scientist, Foundation Models - Tech Research

Riot Games·Riot Technology
west la·
in-person

Research Scientists at Riot combine deep technical expertise across machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), experimental design, and systems engineering to invent new ways players experience games. As a Staff Research Scientist, you push the boundaries of what’s possible and raise the bar for research quality and its translation into extraordinary gameplay.

The Technology Research team performs applied research to accelerate the pace of building amazing player experiences at Riot Games. As a Staff Research Scientist, you will research and develop world models—learned representations that understand, predict, and simulate game environments. Rather than building general-purpose large language models, you will focus on models that capture the structure and dynamics of Riot's games: how state evolves, how players behave, and how design changes ripple through complex systems. Your work will power scalable simulation for agent training, automated game balancing, synthetic data generation, and new forms of language-conditioned game interaction. You will stay deeply hands-on, turning advances in predictive simulation, latent state representations, and environment modeling into concrete prototypes that game teams can evaluate and build on. You will work closely with game teams to ground your research in real gameplay needs and partner across Technology Research to connect world models with game AI and NLP efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Propose, implement, and evaluate world models that learn latent representations of game state, player behavior, and environment dynamics
  • Build predictive simulations that enable agent training, game balance testing, and rapid design iteration without full game server overhead
  • Develop methods for synthetic data generation and auto-balancing powered by learned environment models
  • Explore language-conditioned approaches that combine large language models with state estimators to enable new forms of game interaction
  • Work closely with game teams to understand gameplay needs and design constraints, ensuring research is grounded in real player experiences
  • Partner with game AI and NLP researchers to integrate world models into broader AI systems across Technology Research
  • Stay current with academic and industry advances in world models, predictive simulation, representation learning, and environment modeling (e.g., MuZero, Gato, Dreamer)
  • Communicate progress and learnings clearly to stakeholders, helping teams understand both what works and what doesn’t

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, Math, or related Computer Science/Quantitative field, or equivalent experience (i.e., M.Sc. with 3+ years of relevant experience, or B.Sc. with over 6+ years of relevant experience, etc.)
  • 2+ years experience in deep learning or algorithmic foundations of optimization
  • Experience with generative models, representation learning, model-based reinforcement learning, or learned simulation
  • Proficiency in C, C++, or Python
  • Expertise with TensorFlow or PyTorch

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience building or training world models, dynamics models, or latent-space simulators (e.g., Dreamer, MuZero, or similar architectures)
  • Familiarity with game engines (e.g., Godot, Unity, or Unreal) for prototyping or data collection
  • Distributed computing systems design or large-scale model training infrastructure
  • Experience with GCP or AWS
  • Demonstrated contributions to public research (e.g., publications, talks, open-source projects)

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!

Our Perks:

Riot focuses on work/life balance, shown by our open paid time off policy and other perks such as flexible work schedules. We offer medical, dental, and life insurance, parental leave for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and children, and a 401k with company match. Check out our benefits pages for more information.

At Riot Games, we put players first. That mission drives every decision in our quest to create games and experiences that make it better to be a player. Whether you’re working directly on a new player-facing experience or you’re supporting the company as a whole, everyone at Riot is part of our mission. And just like in our games, we’re better when we work together. Our goal is to create collaborative teams where you are empowered to bring your unique perspective everyday. If that sounds like the kind of place you want to work, we’re looking forward to your application.

It’s our policy to provide equal employment opportunity for all applicants and members of Riot Games, Inc. Riot Games makes reasonable accommodations for handicapped and disabled Rioters and does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, handicap, veteran status, marital status, criminal history, or any other category protected by applicable federal and state law. We consider for employment all qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, in a manner consistent with applicable federal, state and local law, including the California Fair Chance Act, the City of Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers, the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, and the Washington Fair Chance Act.

  • Proven track record of effective cross-functional partnership with product, strategy, analytics, or publishing teams.
  • Experience providing people management including mentoring or managing researchers, delivering feedback, and supporting individual growth and performance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working on ecosystem-level, portfolio-level, or cross-product research (e.g., publishing, platforms, media, live services).
  • Familiarity with esports, creator ecosystems, or entertainment-adjacent player experiences.
  • Experience informing KPI frameworks tied to player lifecycle outcomes such as retention, re-engagement, or advocacy.

Millions of people around the globe look to Pinterest to find new ideas, get inspired, and create a life they love. Our mission is to help them on that journey by delivering delightful and intuitive experiences—which starts with the quality and consistency of our design foundation. We’re seeking a Staff Product Designer to join our Personalisation Patterns team: a hands-on, horizontal leader focused on systematizing quality and advocating for world-class experiences across Pinterest’s core surfaces.

You'll shape the next generation of Pinterest’s design systems and component libraries, partner with cross-functional teams, and help us deliver on our ambitious mission in an effective, scalable, and human-centered way. This is a role for a rare blend: a designer who’s part methodological systems thinker, part craft champion, and part design technologist. The impact you’ll have will stretch across teams, product lines, and the very building blocks of Pinterest.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive System Quality: Lead the stewardship, evolution, and adoption of our core design patterns, component libraries, and gestalt subsystems—ensuring cohesive, delightful, and accessible user experiences at scale.
  • Partner Horizontally: Act as a strategic advisor and a hands-on partner to product, engineering, and design teams across Personalisation and core surfaces, empowering them to leverage best-in-class patterns and ship with confidence.
  • Advance Systemic Thinking: Apply methodical, systematic approaches to pattern creation: balancing product usability, craft, accessibility, and business needs—with input from a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Prototype & Technologize: Rapidly visualize, prototype, and validate new ideas; translate abstract solutions into practical, scalable patterns using Figma, code, AI, or whatever is needed to inspire clarity and adoption.
  • Uphold and Elevate Craft: Conduct quality audits, review flows and handoffs, and directly contribute hands-on design when needed—always advocating for the highest standards.
  • Mentor & Scale Impact: Inspire and guide other designers in craft, systemic thinking, and best practices through critique, guidance, and sharing your expertise across teams.
  • Champion Accessibility & Inclusion: Ensure our design systems support diverse user needs and raise the bar on inclusion and accessibility from the ground up.
  • Communicate & Influence: Clearly articulate your design thinking, rationale, and vision—presenting work to teams, leaders, and executives, and rallying consensus.

What we’re looking for:

  • 8+ years of experience in product design, with significant time spent driving or evolving design systems or pattern libraries.
  • Portfolio demonstrating polished interface design, systemic thinking, component-based UIs, and tangible influence across large organizations.
  • Track record in staff/principal-level roles, influencing horizontally, upholding design craft quality, and partnering cross-functionally—ideally in large-scale consumer or platform environments.
  • Design technologist mindset: Comfortable experimenting with Figma prototypes, AI, and (optionally) front-end code; curious and opinionated about technical feasibility, accessibility, and how we can streamline design workflows and processes through systems and tools.
  • Expert-level motion and visual design skills, with a deep understanding of principles and their impact on usability, comprehension, and overall experience quality — using animation and transitions to enhance clarity, convey emotion, and drive user engagement.
  • Excellent communicator who can synthesize ambiguity into actionable design problems and unite teams through clarity, documentation, and collaboration.
  • Growth mindset with a passion for ongoing learning, experimentation, and mentoring others.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and crafting systems that serve diverse audiences.
  • Please add the required language on equivalent experience or a degree in a relevant field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as design, or equivalent experience.
  • Bonus points for:
    • Experience leading platform-wide or multi-product design system initiatives.
    • Familiarity with personalization, large consumer apps, or rapid scale environments.
    • Contributions to public design systems, open-source libraries, or industry talks/writing.
    • Join us to shape the platform and patterns that power inspiration for millions—raising the bar for design quality, system integrity, and Pinterest’s positive potential.

In-Office Requirement Statement:

Manager, Software Engineering - Developer Connections, Client Build

Riot Games·Riot Technology
west la·
in-person

Riot engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the chance to work in many broader domains. As an Engineering Manager, you’ll predominantly offer creative solutions to organizational design. You’ll also serve as a mentor for a team of engineers, overseeing performance management, growth opportunities, and accountability. Developer Connections (DevCon) connects developers across the globe, enabling them to ship games reliably and efficiently. Sitting at the crossroads of Game Studios, R&D, and Central Tech, DevCon keeps a pulse on development across Riot. Our mission is to unblock teams and empower them to hit key milestones, ensuring that future games reach players on time and at quality. Within DevCon, the Client Build team provides the build infrastructure, orchestration, and solutions that game teams rely on to stay focused on creating the game itself.

As a Manager, Software Engineering for Client Build, your mission is to make working game builds available to developers—and eventually players—with minimal investment from the game teams. To succeed, you’ll need to understand both the technical details of how builds are created and the broader impact they have on developer experience. You will report to the Sr. Manager, Software Engineering for Developer Connections.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the build farms for all of Riot’s games!  You will be expected to understand your customers and their specific needs, industry trends and changes, and other central efforts.  You’ll influence product direction and prioritization based on all of these factors combined with our existing technical capabilities.
  • Drive positive outcomes for customers!  Customers see your team as vital to their success.  This includes proactive communication with customers and stakeholders, prioritizing value over idealism, and fostering a culture of accountability.
  • Manage the team.  You own performance management, team health, and support the engineers’ careers through mentorship and identifying growth opportunities
  • Operational Excellence.  You’re committed to keeping systems operationally globally and own a healthy on-call rotation.  Your off-hours pages are rare due to investments you make into redundancy and automated recovery.  Your team is well equipped to find failures before your customers do, and mitigate quickly before they lead to significant impact.
  • Ensure that your team always understands why we’re doing this.  All your engineers are  able to connect their work back to DevCon and Riot’s mission.  DevCon often pushes into uncharted territory, you provide the clarity to help the team navigate uncertainty.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • 2+ years working in an engineering management position
  • Proficient with Scrum/Agile development methodologies

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Build technologies, bonus for Unreal Engine games specifically
  • Knowledge of CI/CD best practices
  • Experience shipping games
  • Experience serving in a product ownership role

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!

Our Perks:

Riot focuses on work/life balance, shown by our open paid time off policy and other perks such as flexible work schedules. Pinterest is at one of those rare inflection points that comes along once in a generation. The way software gets built is changing fundamentally — AI agents are beginning to write code, review pull requests, debug production incidents, and orchestrate entire features. Pinterest is not watching this transformation from the sideline. We are choosing to lead it.

We are looking for a Principal Engineer to serve as a technical force multiplier for our Engineering Acceleration organization — a team of 60–80 engineers whose mission is to 10x how fast, and how well, every engineer at Pinterest builds. This is a startup-within-a-company opportunity: the charter is ambitious, the problems are largely unsolved, and the systems you build will define how an entire engineering organization operates for years.

As Principal Engineer for Agentic Engineering, you will architect and ship the foundational platform and capabilities that enables AI agents to operate as integrated participants in Pinterest's software development lifecycle. You will design the agent runtimes, memory systems, orchestration frameworks, evaluation pipelines, and governance models that make it possible for 3,000+ engineers to build alongside AI agents — safely, measurably, and at scale.

This is not a strategy-only or governance-only role. Architecture authority here is earned through production systems, measurable impact, and technical depth. You will write code. You will build reference implementations. You will take the hardest, most ambiguous problems and move them from concepts to operational systems — and in doing so, set the standard for how Engineering Acceleration builds.

You will work without a direct reporting team but with broad organizational authority. The Senior Director of Engineering Acceleration, VP of Engineering, and Chief Architect will look to you as a key technical advisor — a trusted partner and primary delegation point for the hardest technical questions facing this organization. Your instincts will shape hiring bars, investment decisions, and multi-year technical direction.

What you’ll do:

  • Define and drive Pinterest's technical strategy for agentic engineering — building the platform where AI agents write code, review pull requests, debug production incidents, and orchestrate development workflows across 3,000+ engineers
  • Architect and ship production systems — modular agent runtimes, persistent memory, multi-agent orchestration (planner, executor, reviewer, tool agents), sandbox isolation, evaluation pipelines, governance (trust boundaries, code generation policies, credential protection, audit trails), and enterprise-grade security
  • Reimagine Pinterest's SDLC — transforming coding, testing, reviewing, deploying, and monitoring into an AI-native lifecycle where humans move from "in the loop" to "on the loop"
  • Own developer velocity measurement — telemetry, benchmarking, and evaluation systems that track agent quality, reliability, cost, and engineering throughput, building structured feedback loops that compound toward order-of-magnitude velocity gains
  • Serve as technical force multiplier across Platform, Infrastructure, and Engineering Acceleration — integrating AI-native workflows with Pinterest's monorepo tooling, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and code quality systems while providing architectural direction, making disciplined build-vs-buy decisions, and setting quality standards through reference implementations
  • Drive engineering-wide adoption — through compelling prototypes, reference architectures, technical evangelism, and documentation that makes the abstract concrete
  • Build strategic relationships with AI platform vendors — such as Anthropic, OpenAI, AWS, Google and contribute to open-source agentic frameworks to keep Pinterest at the leading edge
  • Translate ambiguous business opportunities into precise engineering investments with strong product sensibility — building platforms with the developer experience and adoption characteristics that generate real impact
  • Serve as key technical advisor and delegation point — working with the Sr. Director, Engineering Acceleration, VP, Infrastructure, and Chief Architect — shaping investment priorities and multi-year technical direction

What we’re looking for:

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in building developer platforms, internal tooling, or engineering infrastructure that measurably changed how engineers work at scale
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience designing and shipping agentic AI systems in production — including knowledge and context engineering, persistent memory architectures, multi-agent orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph), tool integration, and production observability for AI systems
  • Experience working in large-scale monorepos or complex multi-service codebases and understanding the unique tooling, navigation, and developer workflow challenges they create
  • Familiarity with agentic development best practices — AGENTS.md conventions, skills frameworks, prompt engineering for code agents, and hands-on experience accelerating developer velocity through AI-powered IDEs and local agentic workflows
  • Track record of driving sweeping technical change across large engineering organizations (500+ engineers) without direct authority — through compelling vision, high-quality reference implementations, and credibility earned from shipping systems that work
  • Deep understanding of modern SDLC tooling and workflows: code review systems, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, static analysis, and the judgment to know how these systems must evolve when AI becomes a first-class participant
  • Exceptional cross-functional influence and communication skills — comfortable operating across Security, Infrastructure, Platform, and Product Engineering. Able to handle complex technical conversations at any level, from staff engineers to CTO
  • Strong product sensibility and business judgment — ability to convert ambiguous opportunities into precise technical direction, understand developer needs before they're articulated, and build platforms that developers want to adopt
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience

  • Integrate with third-party registrars and make complex workflows feel simple, reliable, and fast for customers.
  • Partner with Customer Support Engineering to resolve customer issues and reduce repeat problems through better UX, tooling, and observability.

About you:

Senior Product Security Engineer

About Vercel:

Vercel gives developers the tools and cloud infrastructure to build, scale, and secure a faster, more personalized web. As the team behind v0, Next.js, and AI SDK, Vercel helps customers like Ramp, Supreme, PayPal, and Under Armour build for the AI-native web.

Our mission is to enable the world to ship the best products. That starts with creating a place where everyone can do their best work. Whether you're building on our platform, supporting our customers, or shaping our story: You can just ship things.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Product Security Engineer to join our security team to drive critical product security initiatives across Vercel’s products and platform. Your core focus will be on threat modeling, open-source software security, secure code review, SDLC tooling, and bug bounty program management. You will support both our internal product engineering teams and customer-facing security programs, ensuring that security is embedded throughout our development lifecycle and that our platform earns the trust of developers and end-users alike.

As a senior member of the team, you will lead cross-organizational security projects and champion a security-first culture within Vercel’s engineering organization. This is a high-impact role with broad scope – your work will not only secure Vercel’s core infrastructure and products (built with Next.js, Node.js, and serverless architecture), but also influence the security of the open-source ecosystems we contribute to.

If you’re based within a pre-determined commuting distance of one of our offices (SF, NY, London, or Berlin), the role includes in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. If you're located beyond that distance, the role is fully remote. For location-specific details, please connect with our recruiting team.

What You Will Do:

  • Threat Modeling & Design Review: Partner with engineering and product teams to perform threat modeling for new and existing features. Identify potential risks early in the design phase and recommend security controls or design changes to mitigate threats. You will ensure security concerns are addressed from the inception of features through deployment.
  • Secure Code Review: Conduct secure code reviews and security assessments on products and services built with Next.js, Node.js, and our serverless backend. You’ll uncover code-level vulnerabilities, provide actionable remediation guidance to developers, and establish best practices for secure coding across the engineering team.
  • Open Source Security Management: Oversee Vercel’s open-source security efforts. This includes monitoring and coordinating fixes for vulnerabilities in third-party open-source packages we use (as a consumer) and ensuring the security of the open-source projects we maintain and publish (as a contributor/publisher, e.g. Next.js). You will work with maintainers and the community on responsible disclosure and patching of security issues in open-source code.
  • SDLC Tooling & Automation: Evaluate, select, and integrate security tools into our Software Development Life Cycle. You will drive the implementation of automated security checks – for example, using GitHub Advanced Security (GHAS) and other static analysis, dependency scanning, and secret detection tools – directly in our CI/CD pipelines and GitHub workflows. By embedding security tooling into developer workflows, you will help catch issues early and reduce manual effort.
  • Bug Bounty Program Management: Own and expand Vercel’s bug bounty program. You will triage and validate incoming vulnerability reports from the security researcher community, ensure critical issues are promptly addressed, and coordinate cross-team efforts to remediate and learn from reported vulnerabilities. You’ll also work on making our bug bounty a world-class, researcher-friendly program, including refining policies, scope, and engagement to encourage high-quality submissions.
  • Cross-Organizational Security Initiatives: Lead and contribute to security projects that span multiple teams and disciplines. For example, you might drive a company-wide upgrade to a more secure framework, implement a new authentication/authorization mechanism in collaboration with product teams, or roll out a security awareness program for engineers. You will act as a security champion across the org, aligning stakeholders from Engineering, DevOps, Product, and other groups to implement lasting security improvements.
  • Customer-Facing Security Support: Work closely with customer success and product marketing on security-related initiatives that impact our users. This may involve contributing to security documentation and whitepapers, assisting with customer security questionnaires or audits by providing product security expertise, and communicating our security features and best practices to build customer trust in the platform.

About You:

  • Experienced Security Engineer: You have 5+ years of experience in an Product Security or Product Security role (or related field), with a track record of securing web products and services. You’re well-versed in the fundamentals of product security and have hands-on experience finding and fixing vulnerabilities.
  • Web Tech Stack Proficiency: Strong familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js runtime security. Experience with modern web frameworks (ideally Next.js or React and Node-based frameworks) and understanding of their security considerations. You can read and review code in these technologies to spot security flaws.
  • Threat Modeling & SDLC Expertise: Demonstrated ability to perform threat modeling and architectural risk analysis for complex product. You understand how to integrate security into a fast-paced SDLC without slowing it down. Experience implementing or working with secure development lifecycle practices (secure design, code review, pentesting, etc.) is required.
  • Security Tools & Automation: Hands-on experience with product security tooling such as static product security testing (SAST), dynamic testing (DAST), dependency vulnerability scanners, and CI/CD pipeline security integration. Familiarity with GitHub Advanced Security or similar tools for code scanning and secret detection is a strong plus.
  • Open Source and Supply Chain Security: Knowledge of open-source security best practices. You have experience dealing with open-source dependencies and package management security (e.g., handling vulnerability advisories, using tools like Dependabot or Snyk). Bonus if you have contributed to or maintained open-source projects, especially security-related ones.
  • Bug Bounty & Vulnerability Management: Exposure to running or participating in a bug bounty program or vulnerability disclosure process. You know how to assess externally reported issues, reproduce and validate vulnerabilities, and coordinate fixes. You stay up-to-date on the latest vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10, emerging threats) and methods to mitigate them.
  • Cloud & Serverless Security Understanding: Solid understanding of cloud architecture and serverless environments from a security perspective. You are familiar with securing products on cloud platforms (e.g., securing serverless functions, protecting APIs, managing secrets and keys). Experience with related cloud security concepts or tools is a plus.
  • Technical Leadership: Proven ability to drive security initiatives and influence engineering teams to adopt best practices. You can work cross-functionally to achieve security goals – for example, rolling out a new security tool or standard across many engineers. (While we emphasize technical skills, this senior role requires you to effectively communicate and lead within the organization to get things done.)

Bonus If You:

  • Have prior software development experience beyond security (e.g. as a frontend or backend engineer). Being able to empathize with developers and write or contribute code will help you integrate security seamlessly into development.
  • Hold relevant security certifications or recognitions (for example, OSCP, OSWE, CISSP, or notable bug bounty hall of fame entries). These demonstrate your depth of knowledge, though they are not required.
  • Experience with security policy-as-code or infrastructure as code security (for instance, using tools like Open Policy Agent, Terraform security checks, etc.). This shows you can bring security into the automation and infrastructure realm.
  • Have built or implemented security features in a product (such as authentication systems, encryption, secure CI/CD pipelines) or contributed to security community projects/tools.
  • Are an active participant in the security community (e.g., contributing to open source security projects, writing blog posts or research, attending or speaking at security conferences). A passion for continuous learning and sharing knowledge is always a plus on our team.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation package, including equity.
