### Hollywood: Gable Opens Live-Fire Restaurant at The Hollywood Roosevelt

**The Hollywood Roosevelt has a new reason to stay for dinner.** Gable opened August 18 in the former Shirley Brasserie space, where culinary director Chris Flint and beverage director Chad Austin pair a live-fire Los Angeles menu with an 82-seat room built around the hearth. 

**The opening lineup** runs from tempura maitake mushrooms to bulgogi and kimchi pizza with tableside-torched mozzarella, plus bossam-style grilled branzino for the full fire test.

### Pacific Palisades: Alphabet Bar & Grill Opens at Palisades Village With Chef Timothy Hollingsworth

**Pacific Palisades has a new neighborhood grill in the rotation.** Named for the community's Alphabet Streets, Alphabet Bar and Grill pairs chef Timothy Hollingsworth's California-minded American comfort food with classic cocktails and daily hours from 11 AM to 10 PM. 

**Start with the rotisserie chicken,** add the seasonal sides, and keep this one filed for lunch, family dinner, or a drink at the bar.

### Little Tokyo: Los Angeles Artists Organize Colombia Earthquake Relief Fundraiser at Hello Stranger

**Los Angeles organizers Amanda and André** are bringing live music, DJs, Colombian and Latino vendors, and raffles to Hello Stranger in Little Tokyo on Sunday, September 13, from 1 to 6 PM. 

**Admission is a suggested $20 donation,** with no one turned away for lack of funds, and organizers say proceeds will support Direct Relief’s earthquake response in Colombia. Check the event page before heading out as the lineup and raffle details are still being added.

### Venice: Hulu’s Chad Powers Catfish Food Truck Lands in Venice on Friday, September 4

**Hulu’s Chad Powers** rolls a free catfish food-truck activation into Venice on Friday, September 4. 

**The truck serves Venice Beach** at 1 Windward Avenue from 11 AM to 2 PM, then heads to The Brig from 5 to 9:30 PM with themed food, merch, and masked Chad lookalikes, while supplies last. Season 2 premieres September 3 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.

### Northridge: Toys “R” Us to Open Flagship Store at Northridge Fashion Center

**Toys “R” Us is returning to the San Fernando Valley** with a flagship storefront on Level 2 of Northridge Fashion Center at 9301 Tampa Avenue. 

**The store will occupy the former Guess space** and carry toys, games, puzzles, collectibles, and licensed merchandise, though an opening date has not been announced. Go! Retail Group is operating the location as part of its expansion of year-round stores.

### UCLA: UCLA Taps Lakers Veteran Tim Harris as CEO and Athletic Director

**UCLA is handing its athletic department to one of its own.** Chancellor Julio Frenk announced that Tim Harris, a Bruin All-America goalkeeper who spent more than 35 years with the Lakers and most recently served as president of business operations, will serve as CEO and Director of Athletics on a pro-bono basis, succeeding Martin Jarmond as the program confronts a significant financial deficit.
